Conformity to the European standards is marked by the logogram CE and pictograms in form of a shield. The European Directive for the personal protective equipment (PPE) imposes a precise test and classification system of the protective gloves; the European standards are marked by the letters EN for 'European Norm'. The first of these standards is EN 420 determining the general criteria with to which the protective protective gloves have to comply. As regards the particular risks, e.g. those related to chemicals, radioactivity and electricity, specific standards must be met complete EN 420 (see following pages).
Warning: The logogram CE alone is not a mark of quality, but indicates that the protective glove fulfils the minimum requirements and can circulate on the European market.
